As mentioned in the first post, starting off was never easy with Accpac, but thanks to my awesome group members, it made learning fun for all of us. I feel that the phrase "Time is what you make of it" really applies to us, despite having to juggle multiple submissions at once, we still managed to finish our task 2 days early, I think that mainly because we had a goal whenever we started each session and that we did not abandon it pushed us to compelete it prior to the dateline.
Ive done mainly the Chart of accounts, opening balances, GL data entry form and theory questions, and the rest of the sections had some input from me.
I learned that communication with one another is really important when dealing with such task because many a time, and i dare say that I did not know where the previous person doing has left off or what he/she has done in the latest saved file, which led to me being invalid to help with the project. Besides this, arguments were also frequent within the group on deciding which way the entries should be entered, because no one knew who was right or wrong, we were in unchartered terrortories; remember? Nevertheless, the disputes were clarified after going through trial and error where we either got the entries right, or we had to go back to "Last Saved Point".
Another important value which i felt that my members had was perseverance, without it, i think this project would just fall apart, they did not give up despite having to face numerous disobedient computers or errors in the program, all this which we have long lost count of. Everytime we face a set-back, we would give ourselves some time to think over what we've done wrong and how we can make it right(maybe this is where the HOTS section from the evaluation form comes in). We've spent the longest hours in the lab this semester for this project which we could forsee and most which was put to good use.
And then there are times where we just have to wait for classes to clear out or going through a barricade of students just to get the computer. The time slots are never right, its either the lab being free when we're not, or us being free when the lab isnt. Having perseverance is a good thing, because the thought of not being able to complete the project is dreadening.
Accpac - What we've been playing with the past few months, I definately would agree that it makes the life of keeping the accounts easier thanks to everything being computerized, where human balancing errors are a thing of the past and where bringing down the wrong balancing figures are no more. The system will keep the accounts in order and i think this takes alot of the
already taxing mind of an accountant. It is a win-win situation for both the company and the accountants, because there would be lesser errors, and the accountants time at work can be used more efficiently to complete more task which requires the human touch.
Having spent that much time in those labs sure becomes sort of a nature to me, it feels natural going there, theres a sense of belonging because the faces become familiar through time and the sounds of paper printing gets etched in my mind.
